DTCL was incorporated on the 26th day of August 1911 underthe Indian Companies Act VI of 1882 with the main object ofcarrying on tea business which includes inter aliacultivation manufacturing and selling of tea. The companywas promoted by Nawab Gulam Jabbar & family and originallyowned one tea estate namely the Diana Tea Estate. TheCompany was taken over by the present owners i.e. theSinghania family of Calcutta in 1976. The Company acquiredone more tea estate namely Baintgoorie Tea Estate fromDuncans in 1983. The Company is now operating the above twotea gardens and both the tea gardens are located in thedistrict of Jalpaiguri of West Bengal. The Company has a track record of excellent industrialrelations. So far the Company has not lost a single manhour due to labour problems. There is no ending legaldisputes in respect of labour.
