FAQs

There are 15 official NSE trading holidays in 2026, excluding weekends and holidays that fall on Saturdays or Sundays. Four additional major holidays fall on weekends and therefore aren't counted in the 'trading holidays' list, as the market is already closed.

Most NSE segments, including equity, equity derivatives, and SLB, remain closed on NSE holidays. However, the Commodity Derivatives segment works differently:

Morning Session (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM): Closed on most holidays.
Evening Session (5:00 PM – 11:30/11:55 PM): Remains open on several religious holidays (e.g., Holi, Ram Navami, Dussehra).
National Holidays: Both sessions are closed on Republic Day, Good Friday, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, and Christmas.

The NSE operates from Monday to Friday, excluding trading holidays. The trading day is divided into the following sessions:

Pre-Open Session: 9:00 AM to 9:08 AM
Regular Trading Session: 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM
Post-Market Session: 3:40 PM to 4:00 PM

All timings are in Indian Standard Time (IST).

Yes, investors can access historical data, charts, and account information, but live trading is not available on NSE holidays.
