South Eastern Coalfields Files DRHP for IPO; Coal India to Sell 66.81 Crore Shares

South Eastern Coalfields IPO Details
The proposed IPO will consist entirely of an OFS by Coal India Limited, which plans to sell up to 668,056,100 equity shares of its subsidiary.
The company has appointed SBI Capital Markets, ICICI Securities, IDBI Capital Markets & Securities and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors as the book-running lead managers for the proposed offering.
The equity shares are proposed to be listed on the BSE and NSE.
What Does the OFS Mean for Investors?
The proposed SECL IPO is entirely an Offer for Sale, meaning Coal India Limited will sell its existing shares in the subsidiary rather than SECL issuing new shares.
This means:
- Coal India Limited will receive the proceeds from the share sale.
- SECL will not receive any funds directly from the IPO.
- Investors will get an opportunity to invest in SECL as a separately listed company.
- The proposed OFS will reduce Coal India's shareholding in SECL, while allowing the subsidiary to become a separately listed company, subject to regulatory approvals.
- The proposed listing is part of Coal India's broader plan to bring some of its subsidiaries to the stock market.
