Indian Energy Exchange Reports 12.7% Growth in Q2 FY27 Electricity Traded Volume

IEX Records 39.7 BU Electricity Traded Volume
“Indian Energy Exchange has released its Q2 FY27 and September 2026 power market update, reporting healthy growth in electricity trading volumes across key market segments.”
IEX recorded 39.7 billion units (BU) of electricity traded during Q2 FY27, marking a 12.7% year-on-year increase. For the first half of FY27, the exchange's electricity traded volume reached 77.2 BU, up 14.2% YoY.
Power Market Performance
- RTM volume rose 10.5% YoY to 16.5 BU in Q2 FY27, while September RTM volume grew 10.6% to 5.3 BU, with a record 315 MU single-day volume.
- September electricity traded volume increased 10.4% to 12.2 BU, while India's peak power demand reached 269 GW.
- DAM volume grew 2.2% to 14.9 BU, TAM volume surged 101.5% to around 5.5 BU, and the average DAM price rose 46% to rupee 5.7/unit in Q2 FY27.
