Essel Packaging Limited (EPL) the flagship Company of theEssel group is a pioneer in the manufacture of Lamitubesin India. EPL was incorporated in December 1982 as apublic limited company.The Company commenced commercial production in the secondquarter of 1984 in Technical Collaboration with AmericanNational Can Co. of USA Karl Magerie Kusnacht (KMK) ofSwitzerland and Kaito Chemicals of Japan.The Company was the first to introduce fully collapsiblelaminated tubes (lamitubes) in the packaging industry andeven today is the main supplier of "soft squeeze" lamitubesto the Indian Markets. The technology which the Companyacquired was and still is one of the most advancedmethods of manufacturing a tube. The efficiency andquality levels achieved by the company are of internationalstandards.The installed capacity of the Company has substantiallyincreased from the initial level of 57 million tubes perannum in 1984 to the current level of 375 million tubes perannum by way of successive capacity enhancements. TheCompany also has an installed capacity of 4000 M.T. ofMultilayer Flexible Packaging part of which is used forcaptive consumption. The company also has an installedcapacity of 1080 M.T. for production of polyethylene filmwhich is used to make the laminates which goes into themanufacture of lamitube.
