The NSE and BSE will hold their annual Muhurat Trading session on Sunday, November 8, 2026, on the occasion of Diwali Laxmi Pujan.

The main trading session will begin at 2:20 PM and end at 3:30 PM for the regular equity market session. The pre-opening session will run from 2:05 PM to 2:20 PM.

The special session allows investors to participate in the stock market during Diwali. Investors should check their broker's announcements for the applicable timings for different market segments and order types.

Muhurat Trading 2026: Key Timings

The main equity market session will run from 2:20 PM to 3:30 PM.

The pre-opening session will take place from 2:05 PM to 2:20 PM. A block deal window is scheduled from 1:50 PM to 2:05 PM.

The exchanges have also set separate timings for closing activities, including closing auctions for eligible securities.

Muhurat Trading is a special session and does not follow the regular weekday market schedule.

When Are the Stock Market Holidays in November 2026?

Apart from the special Muhurat Trading session, the NSE and BSE will observe two weekday trading holidays in November 2026.

The first holiday will be on Tuesday, November 10, for Diwali-Balipratipada. The second holiday will be on Tuesday, November 24, for Prakash Gurpurb Sri Guru Nanak Dev, also known as Guru Nanak Jayanti.

Regular equity trading will remain closed on these two dates. The exchanges will also remain closed on Saturdays and Sundays, except for the special Muhurat Trading session scheduled for November 8.

Investors should check the exchange holiday calendars for details about other market segments, including commodity trading on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

Will MCX Remain Open on NSE and BSE Holidays?

The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) follows a separate trading schedule for commodity markets. Unlike the NSE and BSE, which remain closed for regular equity trading on certain holidays, MCX may allow trading during its evening session.

On November 10, 2026, for Diwali-Balipratipada, and November 24, 2026, for Guru Nanak Jayanti, MCX will keep its morning session closed but allow trading during the evening session.

The MCX morning session usually runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the evening session operates from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM or 11:55 PM, depending on the applicable trading schedule.

MCX will also conduct a special Muhurat Trading session on Sunday, November 8, 2026, to mark Diwali Laxmi Pujan. The exchange has stated that the timings for this special session will be announced separately.

Traders should check the official MCX trading holiday calendar for the latest schedule before placing orders.

What Should Investors Know Before Muhurat Trading?
