Ramgopal Polytex Limited (RPL) was incorporated as a publiclimited company on 28th March 1981 and obtained certificatefor commencement of business on 7th April 1981. Thecompany became a private limited company on 23rd October1984 and was again converted into public limited company on20th July 1992. The company has been promoted by theRamgopal group headed by Mr. Mohanlal Jatia.The Ramgopal Group is one of the earliest participants inthe yarn trading market in India by setting up Ramgopal &Sons in 1962. The Company is presently engaged in the yarnprocessing and manufacture of draw twisted yarn at AcchadMaharashtra.RPL had set up a project costing Rs 822 lacs in 1992 formanufacture of draw twisted yarn at Village Amgaon DistTalasari Thane with a installed capacity of 1290 TPA.The said project was commissioned in May1993 and theentire project was fully operational in January 1 994.By July 1994 operating capacity was 85%The company has developed trading activities of supply ofPolyvinyl Alcohol through imports from M/s. Itochu CorporationJaparl and has already booked business worth Rs.78.75 lacsduring the year 1993-94 and achieved a turnover of Rs 90lacs in three months of 1994-95. Ramgopal Polytex Ltd hasbeen recently appointed as sole selling agents for India.(with the exception of Reliance Industries Ltd.) formarketing of Polyvinyl Alcohol manufactured by Unitika KasaiCo. Ltd. OsakaJapan. On an average RPL expects to import 4to 5 containers (76-95 MT) of PVA per month from M/s ItochuCorpn. Japan.The company expects to establish itself in activities oftrading i.e.imports of PVA and manufacturing of largevolumes of processed yarn a part of which it expects toexports.
