Precot Mills Limited (originally floated as Premier CottonSpinning Mills Ltd.) a leading textile mill wasincorporated in the year 1962 in Palakad Kerala forproduction of Cotton yarn with an initial capacity of12096 spindles.Production of cotton yarn commenced during 1964. Theinstalled capacity was increased in a phased manner andreached 50628 spindles in 1981.The Company changed its name to its present name during1985.Subsequently the Company set up its second mill i.e. ''B''unit at Kodigenahalli in Hindupur Taluk of Andhra Pradeshwith an initial capacity of 28800 spindles which wasexpanded to 51840 spindles during 1991.In 1992 the Company set up an 100% Export Oriented Unit(C-Unit) at Walayar Palghat District in Kerala with aninstalled capacity of 10080 spindles and 384 rotors.The Company''s expansion/modernisation programmes werefinanced by IDBI ICICI IFCI IRBI and its Bankers by wayof term loans and UTI LIC GIC & its subsidiaries by wayof Non-Convertible Debentures and internal accruals.
