Tata Honeywell Limited was promoted as a joint venture between Tata Industries Limited and Honeywell Inc. U.S.A. one of the world leaders in the Industrial and Buildings Controls business to manufacture Process Control and Management Systems in India.The Company was incorporated on January 13 1984 as a Private Limited Company under the name of Tata Process Controls Private Limited. Thereafter effective May 8 1987 the Company''s name was subsequently changed to Tata Honeywell Private Limited and effective June 20 1988 the Company was converted into a Public Limited Company. The Company commenced commercial production in July 1989.The main object of the Company is to undertake the manufacture and distribution of state-of-the-art Process Control Systems with a Capacity of 240 systems per annum for which a plant has been established in the Hadapsar Industrial Estate Pune Maharashtra. The Company received the ISO 9001 Certification in December 1993.PRESENT ACTIVITIES OF THE COMPANYThe Company manufactures the Distributed Control Systems under the trade name TDC 3000 and Modular Systems for Process Industries. The Company has also introduced Smart Transmitters and Building Control and Automation Systems with technical support from Honeywell Inc. U.S.A. It also distributes test instruments for data acquisition and analysis. The Company provides a full range of services to its customers including training at the JRD Tata Automation Training Centre at Hadapsar Pune.The Company has a licensed capacity of 240 systems i.e. Complete Process Control and Management Systems and their Component Elements. Its installed capacity is not quantifiable as the size/mix of the system varies according to customers'' requirements. It produce 77 systems in the year ended March 31 1996.
