The Company was incorporated as a private limited companyunder the name Chembond Chemicals Private Limited in 1975in the State of Maharashtra. Subsequently it was convertedinto a public limited company under the name ChembondChemicals Limited on 4/05/1993. CHEMBOND was promoted byDr. Vinod D. Shah and Mr. C.D.Shah. CHEMBOND started withthe manufacture of Metal Pretreatment Chemicals at TodiIndustrial Estate in Bombay. Subsequently a plot of 1800sq. mtrs. was acquired at MIDC Tarapur Industrial Areawhere the present factory of the Company was constructed in1979.In 1983 CHEMBOND diversified into the manufacture ofCooling Water Treatment Chemicals. In 1992 the Companyundertook an expansion of its facilities at Tarapurdoubling the factory premises and substantially increasingthe production capacity. This expansion was completed inthe third quarter of 1993.In 1994 CHEMBOND signed a technology transfer agreementwith Freiborne Industries Inc. USA for the manufacture ofcold forming lubricants for the wire drawing industry. TheCompany also added other speciality chemicals to itsproduct line like anti-corrosive coatings constructionchemicals maintenance products and water managementplants.A collaboration agreement has been signed with SKWTrostberg AG Germany for their range of constructionchemicals.PRODUCTSCHEMBOND is presently engaged in the manufacture of thefollowing products which find use in the areas mentioned.a) Metal Pretreatment Chemicals - processes for thepreparation of metallic surfaces prior to painting for theimprovement of corrosion resistance and paint adhesion.These products are used in automobiles appliancesbicycles two and three wheelers control panels machineryetc. They are also used by the wire and seamless tubedrawing industry as carriers for lubricants.b) Water Treatment Chemicals - speciality chemicals for theprevention of corrosion scale and biological growth inthe cooling water systems of refineries power plantspetrochemical plants fertilizer plants steel mills etc.c) Maintenance Products - special rust preventingcompounds paint removers and rust converters.d) Lubricants for the wire and seamless tube drawingindustry.e) Construction Chemicals - concrete admixtures sealantswaterproofing compounds grouts etc. for the building andconstruction industry.f) Anti-corrosive coatings - special high performancecoatings for marine and corrosive environments.g) Water Management Plants for treatment of industrialwater - Demineralized Water Filtration Reverse OsmosisPlants etc.EXPORTSCHEMBOND has been registered with various agencies tofunction as manufacturers and merchant exporters.CHEMBOND was actively exporting Dyestuffs and alliedchemicals between 1991 and 1992.But thereafter a thrust was applied to promoting Chembond''sown range of speciality chemicals. The exports ofChembond''s products have recorded a decent growth everyyear.Products from the Pretreatment chemicals range are exportedto the U.S.A and South America. The products from theWater Treatment Chemicals division are exported toThailand. Chembond''s export turnover has increased fromUS$ 836 in 1990-91 to US$ 71989 in 1993-94.All the exports of ths Company are supported by efficienttechnical services.New products are also being developed keeping in view theexport market for speciality chemicals.
