The Company was incorporated on 28th June 1985 under theCompanies Act 1956 in the name of CATVISION PRODUCTSLIMITED and obtained registration with the Registrar ofCompanies Delhi & Haryana at Delhi and received theCertificate of Commencement of Business on 22nd July 1985.The Company is one of the first companies in the country tohave ventured into the line of manufacturing CommunityAntenna Television (CATV) equipment and providing CableTelevision services. In 1985 when the Company wasincorporated Cable TV in India was at a nascent stage dueto lack of programming. Cable Television was mainlyconfined to five star hotels and remote corporatetownships. The Company started with setting up completesix channel CATV systems on a turnkey basis within hotelsapartments blocks and corporate townships.During the initial years the sales volume was low due tolack of good programs that could attract viewers/subscribers During 1989 the Company entered into anexclusive licence agreement with CNN to distribute CNNInternational channels in India.In March 1990 the Company started manufacturing completerange of dish antennas and Cable TV equipments likemodulators amplifiers etc. at Sector 10 NOIDA (U.P.).The Company acquired an additional 600 sq. mtrs. in Sector8 NOIDA and constructed 10000 sq. ft. of factory space.By 1991 the Company''s products were being manufactured atboth the units.In 1991 the Gulf crisis gave a much needed boost to theCable TV industry. The event was covered live by CNN andthis led to a boom in commercial Cable TV systems all overthe country.Agreement with Turner Programme Service Inc. (TPS)The Company entered into an agreement with TPS the ownerof the CNN International Channel on 31st July 1990 andacquired rights for the limited purpose of sellingsubscription and advertising services only to hotels inIndia. This agreement is now expiring on 30th July 1995.By 1992-93 other satellite channels like Star TV Jain TVand ATN had commenced operations and there was a mushroomgrowth of dish antennas and Cable TV networks all over thecountry.The strategy of the Company was to concentrate on turn keycontracts with five star hotels and corporate townshipsand supply equipment to commercial Cable TV operators.The Company soon- formed an OEM tie-up with Philips India to offerSatellite TV systems to the home market under the Philipsbrand.- started export of Satellite TV systems to BangladeshNepal UAE/ Middle East and Africa.- entered into an exclusive distributorship agreement withM/s Richard Hirchsmann GmbH & Co. Germany Europe''sleading CATV equipment manufacturer to distributeHIRSCHMANN range of high-end CATV products in India.
