The Company was incorporated in October 24 1970 as a PrivateLimited company to takeover the running business of BharathiyaUdyog Sang a partnership firm and was converted into a PublicLimited company with effect from May 6 1976. The name of thecompany was changed from Bhilwara Synthetic Ltd to BSL Ltd w.e.f19th July 1994. The main objects of the company as set out inthe Memorandum of Association are inter alia to manufacture anddeal in all types of synthetic blended fabrics woollen/worstedyarn and woolen/worsted fabrics.BSL''s plant is located at Mandapam District BhilwaraRajasthan. Production commenced in 1971 with an installedcapacity of 8 looms for the manufacture of Greg cloth. Upto1989 only Polyester viscose (P/V) suitings and shirtings weremanufactured using bought-out- yarn. In the year 1989 BSLventured into the manufacture of Polyester woolen (P/W) worstedyarn and P/W blended suitings. The company''s products are beingsold under the brand name BSL Suitings & Shirtings. The spinningcapacity of 3584 spindles was increased to 4032 spindles in 1992and the weaving capacity raised to the current 59 looms inMarch-May 1994. The company has consistently upgraded itsfacilities and virtually the entire machinery has been sourcedfrom leading machinery manufacturers like Schlumberger (France)and Sulzer (Switzerland).
