How Was the Jio Platforms IPO Subscribed?

According to the subscription figures provided, the Jio Platforms IPO received bids for approximately 438 crore shares against around 19.75 crore shares available for subscription, resulting in an overall subscription of 22.19 times.

  • Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs): 70.55 times
  • Non-Institutional Investors (NIIs): Approximately 14 times
  • Retail Individual Investors: 2.72 times

The IPO also attracted a reported record 1.39 crore applications.

Although the overall subscription reached 22.19 times, the retail investor category was subscribed 2.72 times. This indicates that demand exceeded the shares available in the retail category, so not every applicant could receive an allotment. Applicants who did not receive shares may therefore have been affected by the high level of demand.

What Should Investors Do After the Allotment Result?

If You Were Allotted Shares

Shares were scheduled to be credited to successful applicants' Demat accounts on October 27, 2026. Check your holdings before the market opens on October 28. If the shares are not visible, verify your allotment status through KFin Technologies and contact your broker or depository participant for assistance.

If You Were Not Allotted Shares

The release of blocked application funds or refund processing was scheduled for October 27, 2026. Check your bank account or UPI mandate, as applicable, to confirm whether the funds have been released. If the amount remains blocked, check the status with your bank or payment provider.

Jio Platforms IPO Listing Day Timings

The listing-day schedule provided for Jio Platforms is as follows:

Time Activity
9:00 AM to around 9:45 AM Special pre-open session and order collection
9:45 AM to 9:55 AM Order matching and listing price discovery
9:55 AM to 10:00 AM Buffer period
10:00 AM Scheduled start of regular trading

During the special pre-open session, investors can place limit orders, which specify the price at which they are willing to buy or sell shares. Order entry may close at a randomly determined time during the final part of the order-entry period. Investors should check the applicable exchange and broker rules for the exact timings and order-handling process.

Investors planning to sell their allotted shares during the pre-open session should first confirm that the shares have been credited to their Demat accounts. They should also check whether their broker supports orders for newly listed shares during this session.

How to Check the Jio Platforms Listing Price and Live Share Price

The listing price is determined through the exchange's pre-open price-discovery process. Once regular trading begins, investors can track the Jio Platforms share price through the official exchange websites or their broker's trading platform.

Search for Jio Platforms or its exchange-listed symbol once the security becomes available. The listing price and the live market price are different: the listing price is established during the opening price-discovery process, while the market price can fluctuate after regular trading begins.

What Investors Should Check Before the Jio Platforms IPO Listing

Confirm Your Allotment

Check the KFin Technologies portal or the relevant exchange service to confirm whether shares have been allotted. Applying for an IPO does not guarantee an allotment.

Check Your Demat and Bank Accounts

Successful applicants should verify the share credit in their Demat accounts according to the issue schedule. Applicants who did not receive shares should check their bank account or UPI application for the release of blocked funds or refund processing, depending on the payment method used.

Understand the Limitations of Grey Market Premium

The grey market premium (GMP) is an unofficial indicator of market sentiment. It is not an exchange-confirmed listing price and does not guarantee a profit. GMP can change before listing, and the actual share price may be higher or lower than the issue price.

Calculate the Initial Gain or Loss Using the Listing Price

Investors allotted shares at Rs 1,119 can compare the issue price with the actual listing price to estimate their initial gain or loss, before applicable charges and taxes.

Consider Market Volatility

Newly listed shares can experience sharp price movements. Investors should consider the company's business outlook, valuation, investment objectives and risk tolerance when making financial decisions. Strong IPO demand alone does not indicate that the share price will continue to rise after listing.

Why Is Jio Platforms Raising Funds Through the IPO?

The Jio Platforms IPO is entirely a fresh issue, meaning the proceeds go to the company rather than to existing shareholders selling their stakes. According to the offer-document information provided, up to Rs 27,500 crore of the net proceeds is intended for the repayment or prepayment of specified borrowings of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm.

The remaining proceeds are earmarked for general corporate purposes. The final amount used for debt repayment may differ from the amount planned in the offer documents.
