Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. (IRFC) was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on the 12th December 1986 by the Ministry of Railways as a wholly owned Public Sector Undertaking with an Authorised Capital of Rs.200 Crores for the purpose of raising the necessary resources for meeting the developmental needs of the Indian Railways. The Authorised Capital was raised to Rs.500 crores during 1989-90. The company began its operations after obtaining the Certificate of Commencement of Business on 23.12.1986 from the Registrar of Companies Delhi & Haryana NewDelhi. The Company has the full back-up support of the Indian Railways in all technical and financial matters and in the matter of resources.
