The Company was incorporated as L&T Information Technology Limited on December 23 1996 at Mumbai as a public limited company under the Companies Act 1956. The Company received the certificate of commencement of business on March 25 1997. Subsequently the name of The Company was changed to Larsen & Toubro Infotech Limited pursuant to a special resolution passed by The Shareholders at the EGM held on June 11 2001. The name of The Company was changed to convey The vision for The global brand and to draw strength from The Promoter. Pursuant to the change of name a fresh certificate of incorporation was issued to The Company by the RoC on June 25 2001.
