The Company was incorporated on August 1 1936 under the IndianCompanies Act VII of 1913. ACC came into existence consequent to the amalgamation of 10 cement companies belonging to the house of Tata Khatau F E Dinshaw and Killick Nixon. It is one of the largest and oldest cement companies in India. The Company is mainly in the buairieas of manufacturing and marketing of cement refractories and refractory products. It also provides consultancy and engineering services.The Company presently has a network of 12 cement plants (including Damodhar Cement and Slag Ltd. (DCSL) a 98% subsidiary) strategically located in 10 states throughout the country. ACC is represented in almost every state in the country.The Company has over the years introduced state of art technologies through collaborations with international leaders including the Nihon Cement Co. Ltd. and Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan and Rugby Cement Company U.K. ACC plants incorporate the cement manufacturing equipment from F L Smidth Krupp Polysius and KHD Humboldt. ACC has for 19 years managed operated and maintained a 1.2 MTPA state-of-the-art cement plant of Yanbu Cement Company in Saudi Arabia and earned performance bonuses for last nine years in succession. ACC has been recently awarded a contract to operate and manage the new 7000tonnes per day plant put up by Yanbu Cement Company which is one of the largest in the Middle East.The trading division of the Company undertakes marketing of the cement produced by other producers and conforming to the Strict quality standards specified by the Company through its extensive marketing network.The Company commenced its refractory business in 1951 with the manufacture of firebricks for its captive requirements. Today ACC is a reputed and established name in high quality refractories. It has collaboration with several world renowned refractory producers including Ferro Corporation and Harbison-Walker of USA Refratechnik GmbH Germany Nibek Ltd. U.K. and Terres Refractaires du Boulonnais France.The Company''s Research and Consultancy Directorate provides professional expertise in geology environment and mining process engineering and productivity erection and construction refractory engineering and application concrete consultancy research and development and technical and managerial training and caters to the needs of cement refractory ceramics chemical mineral processing petrochemical fertiliser ferrous and non-ferrous and other industries.
