Anil Chemicals Limited (ACL) was incorporated on 24th June1980 as a Private Limited Company under the name of AnilChemicals Private Limited with the Registrar of CompaniesMaharashtra at Bombay. The Company was converted into aPublic Limited Company in 1985 and renamed Anil ChemicalsLimited. ACL is engaged in the manufacturing of PrilledAmmonium Nitrate Ammonium Nitrate -Fuel Oil mixed (ANFO)/Emulsified Bulk Explosives and Waterproofing Compoundswith plants at Chikalthana (M.S.) Panoli (Guj.) Waidhan(M.P.) and Nandrabad (M.S.).Ammonium Nitrate DivisionACL has been engaged in the manufacturing of PrilledAmmonium Nitrate at Chikalthana Aurangabad since 1983. Theplant was set up with technical assistance from PDILSindri. The plant manufactures chemically coated freeflowing low density/high density explosive grade PriedAmmonium Nitrate. In 1992-93 ACL set up another plant tomake Granular and Lumps Ammonium Nitrate at Panoli Gujaratbased on Ammonium Nitrate Melt from GNFC Bharuch. Withthis ACL has been able to offer complete range of AmmoniumNitrate to its customers.The Company has established itself as a major supplier ofvarious grades of ammonium nitrate and enjoys market Shareof more than 30% in the country today. ACL''s majorcustomers includes ACC Sesa Goa Mineral Ore ExplorationCos.etc.Bulk Explosive DivisionAs a part of forward integration programme ACL went intomanufacture of Ammonium Nitrate-Fuel Oil (ANFO) bulkexplosives in 1986-87 at Waidhan Dist.Sidhi (M.P.) forregular supply of ANFO explosives to Northern Coal-fieldsLtd. subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL). ANFOexplosives are the latest generation explosives used forthe mining and have been fast replacing conventionalexplosives such as cartridge explosives etc. due to variousinherent advantages of the product such as ease ofhandling safe in nature cost effectiveness etc. TheCompany has a long-term contract with CIL for supply ofANFO explosives. ACL also has facilities at the same plantfor making Emulsion Matrix which is used in makingEmulsified ANFO Explosives.ACL intends to set up similar support plant at JharsugdaOrissa for supply of ANFO Explosives to other subsidiariesof Coal India Limited. The expenditure for the plant willbe met through internal accruals.Water Proofing DivisionIn 1989-90 ACL diversified into manufacturing ofWaterproofing Compound (WPC) under technical collaborationwith M/s. Atomised Materials Inc. USA at Nandrabad nearAurangabad. The Company is enlarging its product mix so asto include integral waterproofing compound etc. which willenable the Company to make its market operations moreflexible. The performance of this division of the Companyhas been marginal till now due to limited nature ofproduct- mix.
