Associated Ceramics Limited was incorporated as Private Limited Company on 28.09.70. The Company was converted to a public limited Company pursuant to a resolution passed at the Annual General Meeting held on 28th September 1994 and a fresh Certificate of Incorporation was obtained on 9.1.95 from the Registrar of Companies West Bengal.Initially the Company was manufacturing refractory bricks of only fire clay quality i.e. low alumina bricks by the stiff plastic process to cater to the local markets and the markets in and around Calcutta.Later on in order to modernise the plant for meeting the fast changing needs of the user industry due to rapid technological advances machineries required for Semi Dry Process were installed in phases. Thus the following machines were installed:Friction Screw Presses of 150 MT each 5nos. " " " 400 MT 1no.Impact Mill 2nos.Jaw Crusher 2nos.Ring Roller Machine 1no.Counter Current Mixer 1no.Double Deck Vibrating Screen 1no.Triple Deck Vibrating Screen 1no.Pulveriser 2nos.Hydraulic Presses of 100 MT and 50 MT each 1no.Batch Weighing System Elevator skip hoist and Magnetic Separators et. al.The Company modernised its plant during the early eighties by setting up a eighteen chamber Gas Fired Ring Chamber Kiln. This Kiln is unique in its own way because it has certain features which is generally not found in other kilns of this type. These features are:- Low Height- A very high gas density can be achieved thus resulting in a uniformity in firing temperatures.- a maximum temperature of 1560 degrees can be achieved if good grade of coal is used and the Company has been maintaining this continuously.The Company is currently engaged in the manufacture of refractories used by various industries. It is a supplier for the steel plants of SAIL and others and to units in the cement glass sponge iron industries. The Company has also been an exporter to the Middle East through the good offices of MMTC New Delhi.The company presently has an installed capacity of 20500 tonnes per annum for producing various types of refractories. Facilities for manufacturing new value added products with a capacity of 4500 tonnes per annum are now proposed to be added.
