Green hydrogen production can reduce carbon emissions and promote environmentally friendly energy sources.
A 50 kW alkaline electrolyser system intended for hydrogen production has been the subject of a Technology Transfer Agreement (TTA) between the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and the state-run company Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL). BHEL disclosed this fact in an exchange filing.
The technology offered by BARC is primarily composed of materials that are sourced locally and is fully developed domestically. Through this partnership, the alkaline electrolyser technology will be more commercially viable and scalable, opening up new applications in the steel, transportation, fertilizer, and refinery industries, among others.
In consideration with BHEL's efforts to support India's National Green Hydrogen Mission and Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the company has stated that this agreement represents an important milestone. The objective of this partnership is to encourage the creation and use of green hydrogen technologies so it will lower carbon emissions and support environmentally friendly energy sources. The agreement was signed in front of management team of BHEL and BARC.
The transaction's financial specifics have not been made public.
The company's profit margin for the quarter was 8.8%, and it reported flat revenue for the period. The gap shrank by almost 400 basis points on an annual basis.
Post announcement, BHEL’s shares were trading 1.79% lower at ₹293.20.
